Monday Motivation: wash your bowl, mind your thinking

Sometime around the time that I discovered the HighExistence website and the Zeitgeist movie I Stumbled across a site by  Leo Babauta. Specifically I stumbled across a post he wrote about a famous Zen story that goes:

A monk told Joshu, “I have just entered the monastery. Please teach me.”
Joshu asked, “Have you eaten your rice porridge?
The monk replied, “I have eaten.”
Joshu said, “Then you had better wash your bowl.”
At that moment the monk was enlightened.

Never had the words of Dory, from 2003’s Finding Nemo, rang more true in my ears:

“Just keep swimming, just keep swimming”

There are certain things that we all have to do in life. Waiting in lines, sitting in traffic, washing dishes. Isn’t it time that we learn to enjoy these little things? The little things are what make our life flow. In the end, how we handle managing the little things helps to give our life meaning.

You can swim a mile a day and eventually reach the shore. You can build good habits, wash your bowl, not have anything hanging behind your head, have a stress-less and clean life all for taking the extra minute to wash your bowl, or fold your laundry, or look at the flower, or smell the breeze, or enjoy the road, the thrill of living.

All while living in the PRESENT. While flowing with Life’s current, not getting stuck on a though or a feeling.

No matter how heavy the cloud it doesn’t get stuck, it eventually disperses.

Disperse like the clouds, be one with the sky, enjoy the weather.

Be the climate.

Wash your bowl, just keep swimming, enjoy it.

Monday Motivation: can you name five women who inspire you?

Mother Nature is abundant. Mother Nature is all around us. Mother Nature feeds us and in many ways shelters us. We are here because of Mother Nature. Gaia is a She and she gets so little credit, she gets so little gratitude for what she continuously gives us. Gaia gives us female energy. Female energy nurtures and creates, it is the compliment to the yang. We need both yin and yang, both moon and sun, to make the world go round.

Culturally we are lacking Yin. We are lacking female power, female recognition.. we don’t show enough gratitude for our sisters. Within some women circles there’s even some competition and a lot of cattiness around. Personally, I look at other women not as competition but as role models. I like to learn from them. I am fascinated. I am intrigue. I am inspired.

Here are five Inspirational Women who’ve inspired me.
